Paloma isn’t like most guides in Armenia. For one, she’s Spanish-Argentinian, and lives in the rural village of Tandzaver, about 15 km away from Tatev Monastery in the Syunik Province. A long way from Spain, Paloma is co-founder of Pegasus, a community-based NGO working on developing Tandzaver through ecotourism. She helped develop most of the hiking trails around the village, and in 2019 helped put on the first Magic Forest Festival, which resulted in the creation of Armenia’s first land art museum (which you can hike through on the Magic Forest Loop using our app). Always with a smile, Paloma will help you spot the most colorful birds in the area while showing you around, and believe it or not, she knows the medieval history of Syunik better than that of Spain!

Paloma is definitely a rare type of local guide. She is not armenian but she is definitely deeply rooted in Syunik. It is very easy to see the love that she feels for her adopted land and it makes you feel the same desire to live the armenian experience to the fullest!
