ANT 27 Ijevan to Gandzakar Trail

Ijevan is connected to its neighboring village of Gandzakar by a 7.7 km trail. The Armenian National Trail starts near Ijevan’s central park and continues eastward. Following the asphalt road, the trail ascends for 1.6 km before joining a forested path. After a steep climb, a beautiful panorama opens over the city of Ijevan.

At the 3.5 km mark, the trail meets the Ijevan–Berd highway. After hiking down this road for about 300 meters, the trail markers turn right, leading back into the forested sections. The path continues through shrubs for about a kilometer before rejoining the highway. Cross the road and continue past the old barns toward Gandzakar. This final section offers a wonderful view over the village.

As the trail enters the village, it turns right and eventually joins an asphalt road. If you take the path that turns left instead, it will lead you up toward Tesilk Mountain, known for its cave and a small chapel called Buduri Eghtsi. Along the asphalt road in the village, you will find several grocery stores where you can buy water and food. From the center of Gandzakar, the road continues to the next village, Hovk.

Water sources/information:

There are no water springs along the trail. Inside Ijevan and Gadzakar you can buy bottled water from the grocery stores.
