Nestled in the heart of Gegharkunik Province, the Ttu Jur Circular Trail in Gavar offers a scenic and culturally rich hiking experience. The trail begins at Gavar’s central square and leads to the Ttujur mineral spring, a natural source known for its healing properties. The water is hydrocarbonate-chloride, sodium-magnesium rich, and is comparable in quality to the mineral waters of Hankavan, Lichk, and the famous Essentuki No. 4 in Russia. It is used to treat digestive, urinary, and metabolic disorders.
The route then crosses the Gavaraget River, which flows from the Geghama Mountains into Lake Sevan. From there, the trail continues through Gavar's park and leads hikers across a pine-covered meadow, eventually arriving at the mystical St. John Chapel. Uniquely built into a narrow crevice formed by fallen rocks, the chapel is located at the edge of Gavar’s Bandi district and is a revered pilgrimage site for locals.
This loop trail is perfect for a short nature getaway and combines natural beauty with spiritual heritage—a true gem for hiking enthusiasts.
