Starting from the old settlement of Okon, the trail leads to the nearby village of Yenokavan. At 1,400 meters above sea level, you'll be treated to stunning views of the Khachaghbyur Gorge. The trail passes through forested areas and is mostly descending, except for a 200-meter ascent after the junction leading to the Lastiver Waterfall.

After exploring the Okonakhach Church and the surrounding khachkars (cross-stones), the trail gradually descends into the forested gorge. Around the 6-kilometer mark, you'll come to a junction: one path takes you down to the Lastiver Waterfall, while the main trail continues straight towards Yenokavan. If you choose to descend about 700 meters, you'll reach a campsite where you can relax and enjoy the waterfall

After climbing back up, you'll rejoin the main trail and head toward Yenokavan, where you'll find several hotels and leisure spots.

In Yenokavan, you can spend the night or continue your hike toward the town of Ijevan.

Water sources/information:

There are two water springs around Okon church – one before entering the village from the side of Aghbugha, and the other one located as you leave the village before entering into the woods. This spring is called after St.Hripsime, one of the prominent female saints of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Today, the old stone monument of the spring is replaced by a modern iron pipe.

Trail Notes:

In case you decide to enjoy the Lastiver Waterfall, you can use the facilities of Lastiver Anapat campsite, where you need to pay an entrance fee. Otherwise, you can hike around their territory and walk closer to the waterfall.
