The brand-new ANT website transforms nearly 1,000 kilometers of rugged wilderness into a seamless village-to-village journey

The wait is over: The digital gateway to Armenia’s highlands has officially arrived!

The Armenian National Trail (ANT) website is now live, marking a landmark achievement for a country rapidly becoming a premier hiking destination. This portal acts as a sophisticated, interactive hub designed to mirror the immersive nature of the nearly 1,000-kilometer journey it represents. From the rugged basalt gorges of the north to the sun-drenched orchards of the south, the entire spine of the country is now accessible through a single, streamlined interface.

Crafted by the creative team at Concept Studio, the platform reflects the organic beauty of the Armenian landscape through a high-performance digital experience. The visual identity centers on the ANT logo—a blue archway symbolizing the ‘open door’ hospitality hikers encounter in every village along the route.

The website functions as a comprehensive logistics center, breaking down the massive scale of the trail into a manageable, village-to-village experience. With current data on 322 kilometers of paths and 36 individual stages, and a network of dedicated guesthouses, the platform empowers travelers to plan a highly personalized adventure, ranging from a month-long thru-hike to a quiet afternoon stroll between historical landmarks.

The centerpiece of the user experience is the Interactive Map. This tool allows hikers to trace the trail’s trajectory across five provinces, offering a clear view of how the route connects landscapes, stories, and people. Users can zoom into specific sections to toggle terrain types and identify precise start and end points for every stage. Because hiking in Armenia is a vertical pursuit, the site integrates detailed elevation profiles for every trek. This visualization allows hikers to anticipate major ascents and descents well before they reach the trailhead. For those heading into remote areas where cellular signals might fade, the site provides direct GPX track downloads, ensuring the path remains clear on any GPS device or through the HIKEArmenia mobile app.

The website is structured around the five distinct regions that define the trail’s character. Lori and Tavush lead the way with fully operational sections, showcasing the deep canyons of the north and the emerald forests of Dilijan National Park. The platform will eventually also introduce the expansive terrains of Gegharkunik, Vayots dzor, and Syunik, providing a complete look at the trail’s nearly 1,000-kilometer reach by the end of 2030, when the entire trail is planned to be concluded. Every regional page offers key metrics at a glance, including total length, average stage distances, and the specific number of stages available, making it simple for hikers to choose a region that fits their physical ability and seasonal preference.

At the granular level, the individual stage pages function as digital guides for the modern explorer. Each page identifies terrain through specific tags like Alpine, Canyon, or Rocky, and provides real-world estimates for duration and distance. Beyond the numbers, these pages explore the cultural heart of the trail. Hikers can read about the medieval spirituality of the Motkor region, the industrial heritage of Alaverdi, or the legendary Dark Canyon, where the canopy is so thick the sun rarely reaches the forest floor. By highlighting local guesthouses and ANT-certified experiences—such as carpet weaving in Ijevan or traditional bread baking in Gandzakar—the website ensures that every hiker helps sustain the rural communities that carry forward the traditions of hospitality.

Beyond pure logistics, the platform features a dynamic News and Stories hub that serves as a digital magazine. Users can effortlessly filter articles by category and by province. Covering everything from village culinary traditions and regional biodiversity to practical beginner and winter hiking guides, it keeps global trekkers perpetually connected to the trail.

To ensure safety and clarity on the ground, the Useful Information section acts as a digital field guide. It decodes the standardized marking system used across the country, explaining the white-red-white paint markers and the directional signposts that indicate distances and movement speeds. Because the trail is a living, evolving project, the platform also features a dedicated Feedback section. Hikers are encouraged to share their on-the-ground insights, suggestions, and safety updates directly through a quick submission form. By collecting real-time thoughts and details from global trailblazers, the ANT team ensures the route remains both safe and deeply enjoyable for the next wave of adventurers.

The launch of this platform celebrates local ingenuity and national pride. Built entirely in Armenia, the website proves that the country’s tech and tourism sectors are operating to global standards. It serves as a direct link between the remote farmers of Syunik and trekkers from across the globe, turning an expansive wilderness into a series of inviting, well-marked steps.

“Hikers will be able to travel across Armenia while staying in local communities and carrying only a backpack with daily basics, thanks to the trail’s village-to-village design. The website will allow visitors to fully plan their route before they begin and prepare their entire journey in advance,” said Shahane Halajyan, Executive Director of HIKEArmenia.

The Armenian National Trail website is now your compass, your storyteller, and your guide. The highlands are open, the springs are flowing, and the path is yours to explore!
