It doesn’t get more authentic than the Tufenkian Old Dilijan Complex, located in the recently restored historic district of Dilijan. In addition to comfortable suites, large and medium-sized guest rooms decorated with local handicrafts and artwork, in the historic district right outside your room, you’ll find a wood workshop, ceramic workshop, art gallery, mineral and silver shop, folk museum, and an Armenian restaurant operated by Tufenkian. Built by one of the original founders of Dilijan as a family home, Takht House is located near the town center and within the national park’s boundary. There’s lots of space to stretch out on the property, which comes equipped with hammocks, a grill and fire pit, a swing set, and other outdoor amenities. Inside, you’re free to make use of the kitchen, large dining room for communal meals, a tennis table, and elliptical. We don’t think you’ll be making much use of the elliptical though with our free app showing you the way on nearby hiking trails.
Located above a small stream with views of Dilijan’s many surrounding ranges, Daravand is a favorite among local travelers. You can select from double and single rooms with either ensuite or private external bathrooms, or cozy up in the cottage located on the property. Either way, Daravand’s inviting interior will have you feeling warm and at home. You can have a drink at the bar, enjoy a game of pool, or curl up with a book by the fireplace while there. Outside, if the weather permits, you’ll understand locals’ love for woodwork on the patio made entirely of wood and decorated with woodcraft. Daravand even has a tonir, a local oven similar to a tandoori where you can cook pretty much anything, and a space designated as the “drinking corner.” Cheers! Don’t drink and hike though!
